"A SEASONAL PLACE"

I'll bet I'll regret publishing these sketches. The drawing and acting sucks, the characters look different in every panel, mis-spelled words...it's a mess! The only reason I'm putting it up is because I know that if I put it in a desk drawer to rework another day, it'll never get done. Besides, if I don't post this then I'll be left without anything to put up tonight. OK, so here it is, flaws and all......"A Seasonal Place."

  3. That's great! I actually like that they morph in each panel. It makes them more pulsating and heaving and fleshily transformational. In a sick but funny way.

THIS is the post I've been waiting for!! An Eddie Fitzgerald narrative comic!!

You're too modest, Eddie, these are pure!!!

  5. I like them, this really brings me back to the "Future of Prime Time TV Animation" post, did you ever do a follow up of that?

  6. I'm always impressed how precisely you convey emotions and poses in your roughs. My fav panel is the huge one of Billy all sweaty with anticipation and pure horniness.

Say, since this is referring to no season in particular, rather than just Summer, it might be funny to have sign of all 4 seasons happening simultaneously. Like snowmen and fireflies; Leaves falling and flowers blooming. "oh how seasonal it IS in this place"

  7. And Eddie, why don't you have a blogger icon pic? isn't then a single 1-ich image that can represent you in your totality as a human being?

  8. OMG, this is hilarious!

I was reading this @ work during a quick break. My colleagues are starting to think that I'm losing my mind because I'm sitting at my desk laughing out loud while I'm reading this, and they're not really sure why I'm laughing so much at my desk. I think that Granny coming in and saying "A-HA!" while Billy and Sandy are making out hot and heavy is the best!

I'm glad you posted this, Uncle Eddie. I really needed a laugh today.

  12. Eddie,

Omitting an explicit reference to "A Summer Place" was actually a good move. Anyone who didn't catch the reference from parody-title and the reference to Sandra Dee alone wouln't have have known what "A Summer Place" was anyway.

    Kali,

Your new picture is cool! Stikes just the right balance.

  15. Ha Ha! She looks like Sandra Dee in the front-on view, but in 3/4 view she looks like Don Martin's Mother-in Law!

  20. Care to share your posing theory? You have to have one. You are too good at it to not have one.

    Holy CRAP!
I love the anticipation right before the kiss... You really need to do more stories!

    Whate about the Podcast?

  23. Max, Josh, Ape, Oh: Thanks for the kind words. I still want to do the podcast, I just got into a time crunch.

I do have posing theories but the doodle style I have now is the result of allowing my subconscious to do the drawing. I'm experimenting with drawing the emotion rather than the character. I try to feel what the character's feeling and when I'm really psyched into it I wait and see if the drawing will take care of itself. It does about a 30% of the time which is a pretty high average, I think.

  24. HAHAHAHAHA! The sweating panel before the kiss is hilarious.

Am I the only one that had the musical theme to A Summer Place going through my head?

She doesn't notice the study of the arm, but almost catches him taking more penetrating glances.

He seems almost feral in his sniffing about, with that one lip caught on the gums face that cats sometimes make when they encounter a mood altering funk.

I never saw the film. Is it that charged and steamy?

  27. Anon: The feral stuff is my favorite too though I'm glad other parts have their advocates. Romance is really important. It's one of the greatest adventures we'll ever have.

The movie gets pretty dark and heavy-handed in the second half so I can't recommend it without qualification.
