SHORT-LEGGED GIRLS ARE SEXY!

OK, long legs are sexy but we know that already.

What I'm here to say is that short legs are sexy too. Anyone who likes Fred Moore's girls knows that. I wish I could have found an example of the way Moore draws thick arms and thick, short legs on a slender body. It shouldn't work but it does.

Here's a short-legged girl compliments of Kelly from the Kelly Toons blog. Click to enlarge. BE SURE to click to enlarge! When I saw this I almost fell off the chair! Man! If this is an example of short legs then count me as a believer! If this girl's legs were longer she'd still be beautiful, but she'd be...how can I say it?... merely beautiful...not falling down voluptuous as she is here. It's harder for a long-legged girl to be voluptuous.

Well. I made my point I guess. As an afterthought I'll mention that whoever took the black and white picture above was pretty smart. look at the way the legs serve as a foil to the top and the way the shoes serve as a foil to the legs. And the background: the wall is perpendicular to the camera but the desk and chair make a "V"-shaped chevron. For an amateur photographer like myself that's interesting. To judge from the shadows the main light seems to come from the right. Either there's one elevated diffused light close to the model causing the floor shadows to fan out or there's two main lights and the floor shadows were manipulated in Photo Shop. I don't know which.

To me, the sexiest women are from 4' 10" to 5' 4" tall. Think Olympic gymnast crossed with a short cheerleader.

Different strokes though. Some guys prefer tall and skinny with legs that go on forever. I'm just not one of them. I like skinny only if they're shorter women.

Great shape on that girl in the picture. Wow.....oh...wow. Her hips and legs are....amazing.

(Btw, thanks for taking a look at the link I left the other day, Eddie.)

  3. Gee Eddie,
I don't know if it's Short Legs VS Long Legs, as much as camera placement.

In picture #1, the camera is positioned at the girl's hip level, emphasizing her height and contributing to the leggy look.

In picture #2, the camera is at the girl's shoulder height, and as it looks down her body, foreshortens her legs - making them appear shorter.

I think this issue requires closer examination. Much closer examination...

  4. Hey Eddie,

glad you liked the pic so much :) I personally love all the subtle values and textures, the contrast of the hard, rough table and chair next to the smooth porcelain curves. I'm all about a woman with hips, so you can see why I liked that one so much :)

in regards to her legs, i have uploaded a few more shots from the same set for comparison, plus some girls with lovely legs that aren't too long :)

    can I make links here?

    Ethel In Boots
    Play Me a Tune
    April the Sea Sprite
    Impish
    Curvaceous

The last one is from a very cool set in some kind of white tube structure. There are a few poses reminiscent of Da Vinci's famous drawing that I can't remember the name of . . . the man in a box and circle, arms and legs outstretched? YOU know. Good reference for very stretchy poses.

    Hope you enjoy!

  5. Hmmm! I think I prefer long legs. Short legs and long bodies remind me too much of a man's physique.

    I don't think I'd ever mistake these for a man's physique.

  10. Kelly: Wow! Great links! The original picture of the girl in black and white was a classic but its still nice to see these others for comparison. Thanks for putting them up!

As for the Theory Mansion pool party: sure, you're invited! Let's see, you live in Kentucky, right? Well take the highway through Missouri then hang a left to Oklahoma, then...

    Steve: Interesting!

  11. All hail short legs. I met a Filipino woman that was absolutely gorgeous. Her very short legs helped accentuate the beautiful curve of her hips. I was just awestruck. Great proportions. I doubt she even came up to my ribcage, and I am only 6' tall. Short legs have it going on. Thanks for sharing Eddie and Kelly.

  13. Your next post is about long-legged girls with short torsos- right? I don't think your audience has been satiated until then.

I completely agree, and that picture of the black and white model is one of the sexiest girls I've ever seen.

I've never liked tall girls because I'm short myself. Also, short legs facilitate a nice round ass and bigger (in proportion to the rest of her body) hips.

  16. Some guys prefer long skinny legs. Some guys prefer short legs. However, I prefer "something inbetween". ;)

    Ha Ha!

  17. Credit where credit's due: all of those pictures are from domai.com, a great resource for nude photography. They offer a free picture everyday, and a smattering of more occasionally. I've never subscribed, myself, but for anyone that really liked these, it would be worth it. I've drawn from some of the photos there.

And for the record, I'll weigh in on the tall skinny girls side.

  18. I'm not big on Fred Moore's girl drawings. They're way overrated, and though I really like "All the Cats Join In", I'm surprised such an awkward design (torso bigger than the legs) made it through.

Your typical " how to draw [realistic] comics" book over emphasizes proportional ideals, obfuscating that people actually do have different body proportions. The "Draw them Funny" books tend to emphasize the differences.

I allus thought it funny the way my Dad and I being the same height, that he was all legs, and I was all trunk.

    Sincerely,
    Giraffe the Elephant.

Actually Eddie, there is clearly an overhead light in that picture obliterating the shadow under the desk. It is also providing rim light to her left forearm and right shoulder. I don't think it was set up to make the desk and chair look better, however.

  24. Sean: Sorry about zapping you with a pin-up picture when you're at work. Jennifer complained about that too. I'll have to be more careful!

Anon: Thanks for the lighting theory. It sounds right.

  25. Stiff, totally my bad there! I did link to domai in the last post when I sent eddie the image he wrote about here. I used to be a member and loved it thoroughly! Now I have tons of reference photos to flip through when I need help with a certain leg, arm, or shoulder position, etc.

so yes, everynoe check out www.domai.com WHEN YOU ARE AT HOME (Sorry Sean!!) Isn't it too bad that nudity is so taboo? Bummer!

Good advice Kelly, I lost my job over my photo reference. My employer put a permanent blot on my career record over a few photos of a professional model.

  28. anonymous, that really, really sucks :( what a stupid system; you admire the beauty of the human form . . . you are obviously an evil sinner who will ruin the reputation of any business you work for! I think the people who are so damned uptight about these things are the people who secretly have huge porn collections of the really scary hardcore stuff, Mark my words!!

Disclaimer: I love all girls, short legged, long legged, tall ones, short ones, big boobs, small boobs. They all have their uses.

With tall girls, I imagine myself running my hands lightly up their legs, slowly parting them. Sensual, sure. But she might as well be a mannequin then because she's not doing anything with them.

Whereas short legged girls drive me batty is because their legs look powerful. Maybe it's just an optical illusion, but I go crazy imagining all the various ways those girls can grasp and grip me between their legs as we wrestle.

They're both very sexy, but for very different reasons.

  33. yeah, the female in that photo is fantastic. She reminds me of my woman, who is 5'4" and has curves for years. In fact they could be body doubles.
I have to fully agree with you on the sexiness of short legs. I'm 6'4" and I love shorter girls...most of my longterm relationships have been with girls right around 5'4"...and now I'm getting married to one so, there must be something special about the height. My legs are the opposite...they're freaking loooooooong. I have a short torso, and I'm super tall, so my legs had to make up for it. Haha, now you're probably picturing a freak of nature, but its not that bad, I just look shorter when I'm sitting down.
Any thoughts on the female torso lengths?
