We don't really go as big on Halloween over here in the UK. For us Bonfire Night (remember remember the 5th of November) is a bigger deal. Check out http://www.cliffebonfire.com/home.html (and don't worry too much about the burning crosses... nothing to do with the KKK!) Anyway hope you had a Happy Halloween!
Hope yours was spookeriffic! More kids than usual came to our door last night. And I had been worrying that Halloween was going extinct.. Not yet, at least!
Vincent(aka the guy who has NO clue who I am, lol--jesus, Vincent!)is right--the SMELL of those thin plastic shell-masks and vinyl/cotton/ploy-whatnot suits was heavenly. Ahhhhh.....
Your recent blog mentioned a guy named Don Selders. Don was a good friend of mine from 1973 to his death in 1998. He was a highly eccentric character introduced me to the world of conspiracy theory.
ahhh...I used to love the smell of those collegeville costumes.
ReplyDeleteHappy Halloween!

ReplyDeleteI'm so jealous. I want to give out candy. :(

ReplyDeleteDan: What does Bonfire Night commemorate?
ReplyDeleteDan: i just read the Bonfire link. So that's where the custom comes from! fascinating!
ReplyDeleteVincent, Jenny: I'm ashamed to say that I forget what the costumes smelled like.
Lester: This year Halloween was celebrated in my neighborhood more than anytime in recent years, I don't know why. Thanks for the link!
Jennifer: Good for you! I'd have guessed that you'd be an admirable celebrator of the holiday if the powers that be allowed it!
Freckled: That was my favorite too!
