The Smoker: "She was a looker alright. Young, feminine and confident, maybe over-confident, maybe a little too worldly for her own good. I know the type well. In the photos she's dressed in high fashion and low necklines...no inhibitions...just a rich Dad who can afford a private dick like me when one day she just vanished into thin air.
The only lead I had I was this address in the country that I fished out of her waste basket. It's not much to go on but it's a place to start. That's it, that farm up ahead."
"You haven't seen this girl around here, have you? She hasn't done anything wrong, I just want to talk to her. No? But you didn't look at the picture..Here, take a look!"
"I shot a quick look inside and there was somebody inside bowed over a table counting something in the darkness. Why's the house so dark in the middle of the day? "
"Hey, uh..you don't think I could use your phone do you? Just a local call. I'll just go in and...."
"OK, I'll be seeing you! Have a good day and all that! I know you have to get back to your farming!"
"What the...!? Somebody's on the road! Get outta the way, ya......"
Screeeeeeeecccchhhhh.......CRAAAASHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I like how you integrated your drawings into it Eddie!
ReplyDeleteIt's like a step forward.
"Knows many things" is a phrase from The Shadow and the road shot is from a commercial. I cut out the drawings and had to hold them up with one hand while I shot the pictures with the other.
ReplyDeleteAnd why was The Smoker's car grinning like an idiot as he sped away?
ReplyDeleteLove the up angle on that shot.
Hey Fitz, I tott I warn'd ya' ta keep yer nikoteen stained nose outa' Toon Town!!
ReplyDeleteI also love the angle on you in that car, and you holding onto your hat.
ReplyDeleteAlso your transformation when you wave goodbye over your shoulder and then begin grumping to yourself about what a liar that city rat was.
This is great, keep em coming
ReplyDeleteWow the drawings really help! More like this please. FUN!!
ReplyDeletegreat. YES, this mix between drawings and photos absolutely works.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad the drawings weren't photoshopped in. It seems like it's more fun to maneuver them into the photo, and light them. Awesome idea and well executed!
ReplyDeleteHAW! Brilliant, Eddie!
ReplyDeleteI showed it to Chika, as I do all your fumetti.
(She's still laughing...)
The ninth picture is terrific (the one that says "Farming in a pig's eye!...." Great expression there, Mr. Fitzgerald.
ReplyDeletehaha eddie great idea for the drawings mixed with live action. this is hilarious! i hope you do more stuff like this.
ReplyDeletei love the drawing of the back of that guy's head.
that's AWESOME to use your own cartoons as props! this is becoming the most interactive and well thought-out blog on the internets!
ReplyDeleteThis is a new genre of comedy, combining comics and fictional live action photo essays! Genius!
ReplyDeleteYou've made a quantum leap, Eddie, stripping hi-tech imagery to the bare assed roots of entertainment. A large media company couldn't do that without drowning in its own red ink.
ReplyDeleteTHe suspense is killing me I cant wait to see what happense in episode 6!
ReplyDeleteWow. Eddie you never cease to entertain. Thanks
ReplyDeleteFrom this point forward this particular form should be known as FumEDDIE's.
I must know!!!!!! Please continue!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE LOVE LOVE that cut out Eddie!!! Each post you improve on the last- amazing! You're the only one online like this!
I haven't seen anything quite like that before. Now you have to name the technique!

Eddie's created a new technology - somewhere between Mo Cap and Al Capp...
ReplyDeleteYou're a cartoon. Is that on purpose or by accident?

I heartily approve of your photoplays taking place in cartoonland. Awesome!
ReplyDeleteExcellent fun! But this ain't a new technique Eddy is employing, it's merely being presented via a different medium (on the internet on a weblog using text and digital photograhy). I used to see this kind of stuff in Mad Magazine, National Lampoon, Cracked!, etcetera. But that's not important! What's great is that this stuff is fresh and funny and free and instructive about how comedy and stories in visual mediums works.
ReplyDeleteOnce again, great stuff Eddie!
Everybody: Many thanks! I kinda like this technique too. Mike F gave me a great idea that I'll incorporate next time I do this!
ReplyDeleteThanks Tangleman, we all seen the fumetti in use before, but Eddie has taken it a step beyond, and I'm loving it.
ReplyDeleteYour Amazing, such a great idea and drawings!!
ReplyDeletePLEASE conclude the story..how will it end!!!! I'm dying to know.
Hilarious Eddie! I love the mix of low and hi tech.
ReplyDeleteWow! This is just like the old serials, pulp novels and The Shadow! Only, cuz it's on the internet, it's all interactive-like!
ReplyDeleteI love that you incorporated your drawings into the mix, and the fact that you shot it yourself is incredible!
You may never do live action, Edward... but you could!

shades of the great Winsor McCay...really fun.

ReplyDeleteThis is so cool!
ReplyDeleteA cross between "Double Indemnity" & "Out of the Inkwell"!
