These 2 funny walk posts are fantastic! Dean's uncle, especially, is great.
I feel like i've been gypped by fate this week, because I didn't get to see you! :( well, there's always next time. I'll bet you have a million funny walks!!
You've got to imbed the "The King of Jazz" "Happy Feet" solo dance. That rubberlegged dancer is more visible in that clip and showcased to better advantage. If you were a professional show dancer, Uncle Eddie, THIS is how you'd roll.
(Bonus: the second clip has the Russell Maekert (sp) dancers, who eventually became the Rockettes. That's a model of Times Square, ca. 1929-30 they cavort through.)
Gee thanks Eddie. I love all that stuff Gleason used to do. I have some sketches around here somewhere I drew of Jackie from that sketch. I think I have a good videotape copy of a Gleason special where I first saw that. And speaking of Gleason, here's a clip of Foster Brooks at a Dean roast of Jackie Gleason - funny stuff. http://youtube.com/watch?v=beo0wC9Uirk
These were great, Eddie! I especially liked Gleason's clip. The man was such a talent, and the sort of comic that we don't have these days: one that can do it all it seems.
Since we're in the avenue of sharing videos ( and this IS sort of off-topic ), I thought I'd post a gem I just found on the web: an interview with Bill Melendez.
He talks about everything, and calls his move from Disney to Warner's 'a step up'. How rare do we hear folks talking like that about Disney? Gotta love good ol' Bill.
WOW EDDIE!

ReplyDeleteLoving these funny walks, Eddie.
ReplyDeleteThe Jackie Gleason fast-dancing reminded me a lot of the infamous David Brent dance:

Coincidence?
I guess there's just something inherently funny about a fat man really going for it on the dance floor.
