I'm always interested to see what cartoonists hang on their walls. Usually it's cartoons and paintings. Sometimes it's music and film posters or, if the walls are dominated by the cartoonist's significant other, stately pictures of roses or horse-drawn carriages. My walls are mostly masks and cartoon cels. The rest tend to be faces, why I don't know. Here's a few that I either have framed up on the wall or am thinking about putting up.

That She May Be A Bag of Trouble is in the bathroom isn't it? I'm glad Mike, and some others I've met, decorate their bathrooms. People tend to brush off the bathroom in terms of making it fun. GOOD JOB MIKE.

ReplyDeleteThere's a must have item for you, Mr. Fitzgerald, in an obscure, low print-run fumetti mag from the early sixties called Fooey, which attempted to capitalize on the success of Mad. It's filled with this all but vanished sort of goofing, odd fellows in drag and homespun make-ups, truly depraved and right up your alley, judging from your own homespun antics and this post. Fooey.

ReplyDeleteEddie...If you want to see some amazing real life modern characters, rent a movie that came out recently called "The King of Kong: A Fistful of Quarters". It's about an average guys quest to achieve the highest score for Donkey Kong. You will get a kick out of it, and the possibilities with what could be done in cartoon form with the characters is limitless.

ReplyDeleteI never noticed the exploded gum-pimples on the mad cover before. Gum pimples have gotta hurt. My girlfriend had a nostril pimple once which almost corked the hole entirely, then it went green and eventually exploded. All over three days and nights while on a nonstop bus across Canada.
