GIRL PHILOSOPHERS ON YOUTUBE

When I woke up this morning I made some coffee and ate breakfast infront of the computer. While I was eating I did a YouTube search for "Girl Philosophers" and this is what I found. To my surprise girl philosophy is a whole genre. Who would have thought? Here's a sample....

good thing they were cute or i woulda been outta there lick split.

i don't know how the first qualifies as philosophy, but the second... i think she was trying. unfortunately, like most of generation y, she seems like she can't hold a train of thought for very long. i also couldn't tell how seriously she was taking any of it.

that second one is HILARIOUS

I feel kind of dirty watching those clips. It's almost like I was watching them get dressed.

The girl in the bottom video started creeping me out so I had to stop watching. It's totally the way she's talking combined with that fade effect she uses between statements. Creepy!

I managed about 10 seconds. How long could you watch?

It's Youtube right?!...but you watch and watch and neither one of them gets hit by a wiffle ball bat or burst in to flames or has a cat mysteriously attack them! What gives?!

No seriously, the second one is terrifying and vapid.

I was about to write a philosophical response to this post, but then I realised I hadn't a bit of make-up on.

Once upon a time, I would have listened to this 'til 3 a.m. (if that's what it took).

They lacked polish...and substance. The first was just boredom, but the second:

"And maybe that phone ringing . . . was a sign. Ooh."

This made me want to stab my ears with a fork.

Interesting, Uncle Eddie!

How about this for the "old school" in girl philosophers? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1xKGZMwaIG8

Here's something else that's interesting - Mary Shelley's mother was a philosopher as well. Well, maybe it's not that interesting...oh well...

Who would have even thought to do a search for "girl philosophers"? It's in little details like this that greatness is to be found.

So where's the "Mrs. Eddie's Guide to Life" companion video? (I'm sure you can come up with a cleverer name for yourself in a wig, Eddie...)

Jennifer: Mary Shelley's mother was a philosopher!? I didn't know. I'll look it up.

And Ayn Rand? I love Ayn Rand, and I read all of her books, but I'm not really an objectivist. What do you think of her?

Lester: Thanks for the kind words!

Kris, Matt: The second girl is kind of shallow but you have to give her credit: she's funny and has style, at least in this video.

I also like the fact that she likes men. Some girls have base motives for coming on that way, but some girls do it because they seem to like playing the role of muse for the men in their lives.

When a muse makes an effort to charm a guy I think the guy should accept it as a luxurious gift. He should fall in love with her and accept the sting of rejection when he discovers that he took it too seriously. If a guy wants to be creative he should fall in love often.
