NEW TALENT!

Wow! There's some interesting YouTube filmmakers out there! What do you think of these two guys? The first goes by the name "Forgettable" and is anything but. Here's (above) my favorite Forgettable film: "The Robber's Apprentice."

Here's (above) Forgettable making a funny film with just two kids and a couple of overcoats.

Here's Forgettable and a friend (above) doing a whole video of funny walks. Every cartoonist and animator should do the same, in fact every animation teacher should assign this.

Here's another film from Jorge, and it's a doosey. Jorge's friend's brother did it. Considering the age of the actors the film is amazingly sophisticated. It has humor, balance, character, movement, story...everything you could want. It's great to see a natural at work, somebody who's born to hold a camera.

Oh my! He sent that kid to the hospital, I thought I'd laugh til I died.

Great video!

Say Eddie, if you like awesome videos done in the home with limited effects which exhibit funny talent and masterful editing, preferably by a cute girl or two, then I highly recommend the irreverant Brookers.

She's been making these awesome little videos for a while and is now super rich and working in LA thanks to the likes of Carson Daily and Tyra Banks liking her videos.

You'll love her, everyone does!

well, speaking of low budget youtube fun, how's this:

usually no one gets the ending. so it ends feeling like a nothing movie. which maybe it is.

Eddie, sorry that this has nothing to do with the post, but I'd like to ask you a few questions. Is that OK?

Who are your favorite cartoonists?

Who are some of your influences?

You said in a post that you and John Kricfalusi didn't agree on a few things, like if cartoonists such as Wally Wood are good or not. What else don't you agree on?

What are your favorite films?

What is your favorite cartoon?

What do you think about the underground comix of the 60's and 70's? It's a subject you haven't touched upon.

Will you do any more installments of "The Smoker!"?

Could you tell a story about knowing Bob Clampett personally?

I really liked those!!

Forgettable was NOT forgettable. What an ode to the silent comedies of yesteryear. I watched the first film, and I really liked it. It goes to show that something very simple (and clean) can be really funny! I also got a kick out of the bloopers at the end.

You're right about the Dexter one. The dialogue was very sophisticated for the age of the actors. Dexter's explanation about the study of light and his description of his DVD collection made me think that this was "Woody Allen meets Nickelodeon".

We've got to get you discovered, Uncle Eddie! Some of your silents are really funny as well.

Boo: The Brookers filmmaker has great filmic intuition but I get the feeling that she's not interested in telling stories. Nothing wrong with that...I just have a bias toward storytelling.

Anon: My favorite animators: Scribner, McKimson, Tyre, and Sibley. Influences? These guys plus Don Martin, Milt Gross, Wally wood. Underground Comics? Mostly Crumb. A lot of the other stuff is probably on my profile. I'll do more posts about Clampett in the future and include what stories I know in there.

The Smoker? I'll definitely bring him back. I've got stars in my eyes regarding videos, which is a new thing for me, but I never want to stop doing photo essays. I can't wait to get a film camera so I can do some videos outside with other actors.

Jennifer: Many, many thanks for the kind comment and for all the inspiration in the past. I'm glad you liked the filmmakers I just put up. Forgettable is really funny. I'd love to shoot a short film with him. We have different styles but I'll bet the right story could make it work.

The girl in the Dexter film was great. She's a master of understatement and her way of speaking totally fit the character.

Jesse: Are you sure you got the right link? That one was for the guy who does Scooby's voice.

Jorge: How old was Liam when he made this film?

I think he was 11.

I saw those "Robber" videos and I love them, leastly because of the use of Raymond Scott music.

That's also Liam drumming during the logo at the beginning of the film. There's a video of Liam drumming on youtube here.

When me and Dallin were 11 we made a comedy video for a school project. Dallin improvised an insane stream-of-consciousness routine for a puppet that left us on the floor with tears in our eyes. Sadly, the tape has since been lost. But I found the outtakes a few years ago on my computer and have been trying to track them down. When I find them I'll put them on youtube. You will be shocked.
