SOME LEFT-OVER PICTURES

I just threw away a lot of unpublished pictures I've been saving, mostly ones from old photo essays. Here's a few that I decided to keep.

Here's (above) Uriah Heep or maybe Ichabod Crane.

The Romance Reader (above).

The Nudist (above).

Cowboy Bob (above).

The Critic (above).

You mean you cleared your photo file on your Mac or literally discarded paper photos?
My big problem I discovered after I got my little Olympus-180 is I find it very difficult to discard any photos, especially when they start eating up the real estate on my hard drive. I've uploaded some to flickr, MySpace, Google, but I fear what will happen one day if these online storage services go out of business or if their back-up procedures fail and I lose my files. Then I remember how many files I've lost or can't get access to because my personal hard drive failed, or some other calamity. It's part of the digital life now.

Hey Eddie,

This is off-topic, but something I've wondered about for some time.

Do you smoke?

I wonder, only because my instinct says you don't and yet I've heard your theories on characters who do. Plus, I've seen you in videos holding a cancer and miming with it, sometimes even lighting it.

But like Bill Clinton, I've never seen you inhale.

If you don't does someone in the family smoke? Or do you just have a fake cigarette somewhere that you use for videos?

It's an interesting subject to me, because I've smoked many cigarettes and somehow, never managed to get addicted.

But anyway, these pictures are fun. They're like getting to see the 'Making of' bonus featurettes for movies you love.

You should use these on your drivers license, one for each month. Cops love that kind of stuff.

This is like going up in the attic and going thru the uncle Eddie photo album!

Last: I meant that I trashed digital pictures. I'll bet your right about pictures of that sort not having the shelf life that everybody predicts.

Boo: I don't smoke, I just admire the brave people who do and thereby make the world cooler for the rest of us.

Marlow and Katie both gave me artificial cigarettes, which I very much appreciated. Sometimes I use those and sometimes I buy real ones, just for the blog. I never inhale, even when I'm trying to look like a real smoker.

Well, be careful, Eddie!

Kevin Smith is a director who's work I like a lot, and it was fake-smoking that did him in, so to speak.

Kevin's first movie was called CLERKS and in it, he had a small part that he played himself, part of a duo, known as Jay and Silent Bob. Kevin played Silent Bob because he wanted to be in the movie but didn't want to memorize lines.

He made Silent Bob a smoker, too. But, he didn't smoke himself, and since the budget was less than $30,000, he had to just buy cigarettes and smoke 'em. Now he's up to 3 1/2 packs a day.

Silent Bob ( with Jay ) continued to appear in five more Kevin Smith movies, and it's odd to watch when he smokes because in the last five movies he's a real smoker, but in the original CLERKS, he's barely inhaling and pushing the smoke out of his mouth as fast as he can; he hadn't learned to love it yet.

So, heed the warning, sir. Sometimes fake smoking leads to real smoking.... though, Kevin was 22 when he made CLERKS, and you've gone this long without polluting your lungs so maybe there's nothing to worry about.

Oh, you're a dad, aren't you? In that case, HAPPY FATHERS DAY!

Yr. buddy,

hey Eddie! Forgive me if this has been asked before but have you ever had a beard or moustache for a good period of time? REAL ones, that is! ;)

Eddie Fitzgerald said...

Boo: Thanks! Rest assured, your warning was taken to heart!

Nico: I have an Uncle Eddie live video where I have a mustache. I thought it would deflect attention away from my buck teeth. I since learned to love buck teeth and therefore would never grow anything that would cover them up.

Haha, I can't believe you shook my hand last night Eddie! As if we had never met! Oh yeah....

HAPPY FATHER'S DAY!

Bob: Nice of you to say so! I shoot it on the isight camera that's built into the computer, that's why there are no long shots. It's edited on imovie 08.

I'm doing a YouTube video with Forgettable, the guy who did "Robber's Apprentice," which I blogged about last week. Forgettable's part looks terrific. Mine's too long but maybe I can fix that.

Thanks for the Blackstone link!

CableClair: How did school go? did you like it?

Nico: Are you serious about filming an Uncle Eddie Show? We should put our heads together!

EDDIE!!! That first photo of you as the evil puppet is the best ever!!! I laughed so hard, I can think of a million lines to go under it...by the way the evil puppet photo story you did a while back is one of the funniest things ever. I hope you'll make a part 2 someday!

Always nice to see photos from the back of the photo fridge. Thanks Eddie boy.

Eddie:
of course!!!!!! We could make a variety of shorts and stories about the adventures and theories of Uncle E. Not that your videos aren't great already, because they are!!!!!! but we could use my equipment and shoot stuff outside and around town, we could add more characters and have cameos by our friends too. a variety of short weird stuff, don't all have to be comedy (i.e. Kali's video last winter). We could debut them here as we make 'em, or make a small webpage or youtube channel especially for them.. Kali and I can be your sidekicks or help write sketches! whatever you want! It's all just for plain ol' fun. The sky's the limitttttt

As soon as I'm more settled (very soon) i'll be more available, we'll talk details!

Eddie Fitzgerald said...

Nico: Thanks, Nico! It's much appreciated. I'm not ready yet either, but it's something to think about.

Kali: Ha! Well, I was in a handshaking frenzy and would've shaken my own mother's hand if she'd been there.

Katie: You're right, a part 2 is needed. You can never get enough of evil puppets!

i'll have my people call your people and tell them to tell you to call me.
