MUFFET vs. BO PEEP

The story of Little Miss Muffet is so delightfully primal and the spider is such a great symbol of maleness. I can only imagine what it must be like when a sheltered little girl wearing frilly petticoats and lace, fresh from a pink bedroom stuffed to the gills with glass unicorns, suddenly encounters the ultimate symbol for hairy, salivating, low-rent men. The experience is evidently so traumatic that it's found it's way into what might be the most frequently memorized poem in history.

If I got to watch this while growing up- I'd have better childhood memories. Someone needs to give you your own show! You're the next Soupy, the next Mr. Rogers, the next Ringo Starr!

Anyway- to answer your question- I like Muppet, but I totally like the way the story originally was, if I a s****r came next to me, I'd have a panic attack and run like there was no tomorrow! In fact, that happened to me a week ago! But lo and behold, it happened on my bed, so I had to get over it if I wanted to ever sleep again.

LOVE the unibrow, by the way.

I had to post this comment again- this first one had too many typos! I have the flu, that's my excuse hahaha.

Kali: Thanks! It's amazing how jarring it is to encounter a venemous, ugly, evil spider in your bedroom, which is supposed to be your comfy, cushy hide-away from the world.

Boy the choice seems a little one sided.

I'm a Muffet man m'self. She makes things painfully obvious. If I sat down next to a Muffet kinda girl and tried to pitch some woo she'd make it really obvious whether she dug me or not. No fuss no muss. She's the kinda girl who knows what she wants and isn't afraid to tell you. She doesn't need to sugar coat the truth. She knows who she is and where's she's going. And it looks like she knows how to make a delicious bowl of spider soup. Honesty and culinary skills... she's a catch.

Y'know... I'd like to meet this Miss Muffet and see if there's any chemistry. We could have a good thing.

Bo Peep... blech... forget it... I wouldn't let her prepare my taxes.

I know! It's worse than being accosted by men! Not that you would know how that's like, hahahaha.

Just so you know- not all girls have glass unicorns in their bedrooms. Mine has Popeye and Cadbury Cream Eggs (mmmmmmm).

I have to vote for Bo Peep. Not because she's a better woman, but because I saw her eyes rotate independently at the start of her clip.

Argh! You've replaced the ancient folk wisdom of Muffet with yet another feminist role model.

Ever since "Mermaid" princesses have been strong, brave & self-reliant & the prince...is "so handsome!"

The only time I get to trot out my vestigial caveman is when there's a spider in the bathroom.

man, Eddie! you'd be perfect in vaudeville.

i enjoyed this video so much. you gotta admit, it definitely favors Muffet. I don't know who to choose!!

I've always been partial to Bo Peep.
But that was possibly because I always pictured my self as little boy Blue.
I long to frolic in nature with some who shares my lack of concern for live stock.
Plus, I find curd breathe repellent.

Another great post Eddie

None of the above. I've always been partial to Goldilocks, myself. I've always fantasized that if she'd tried my bed, she would have found it "Just right".

Regarding curds, by the whey, I think the FDA should slap a label on that stuff, warning consumers of its potential for causing extreme hair loss...

Cadbury Creme Eggs.... I had a comment to make, and my mind went blank at the thought of such a lovely confection.

Mmm.... cream eggs....

Ha! Great video! The music that plays during the Muffet scenes reminds me of the Benny Hill show.

Oh, and I vote for Bo Peep. (The original) Muffet is too jumpy.

I'm with you. Bo Peep does seem pretty boring. "Aw man, my sheep are gone. Jeez, whatever. They'll come back. No problem." She probably wouldn't be a fun person at all...sitting around, getting fat, napping and complaining if someone suggested doing something exciting.

Miss Muffet on the other hand is adventurous. She doesn't eat her lunch in her castle or cottage or anything, she goes out to find a tuffet. Then when a spider comes, runs away! At least she's more exciting than Bo Peep.

If a spider came down beside her she'd just be like "Aw man a spider. Crap. Go away. Oh god. Just leave me alone alright? Siiigh." Just the kind of person that's no fun to be around.

Miss Muffet's probably hotter too.

Sure, Pete, blame Quebec for all your problems! That poutine didn't order itself, my fellow Canadian friend.

I think I'd also have to side with Bo Peep..she's rational, uses her head. She knows the sheep will come home again. She knows how to chill, knows her priorities.

Muffet on the other hand, while a healthy eater (yes, curds and whey is cottage cheese) she's most likely a hysterical drama queen. I think it would be difficult to be friends with this sort of woman. Also, I happen to like spiders, so I can't relate to the fright factor..at least enough to run off like that.

Oh, and I think Muffet also needs some velcro too keep her hair from falling off all the time! Although that could be a symptom of her high stress, type A personality.

Eddie! You really had me rolling in the aisles with this one. I think my neighbors heard me guffawing.

I think the princess and the pea is the better sexpot than Bo Peep and Miss Muffet put together.

Think about it. A chick ontop of several matresses whose body is sensitive enough to respond to "ANYTHING". Bill C-10 prevents me from going into further details here. ;)

Miss Muffet ain't all that. I'll bet she gets the willies something fierce around those 8-legged beasties. Like they say, "When the goin' gets tuff - the tuffet get's goin'..."

I've decided. Mary Mary Quite Contrary blows both girls outta the water.

EDDIE, That was friggin' AWESOME...MAN, I LIKE WHERE THIS IS GOING! I can see more elaborate backdrops, sound effects and titles on the way!
I totally lost it when the spider dropped down for the THIRD time! Her reaction was GOLDEN!!! like,"c'mon...not again". I loved this completely!

Nico,
That whole blowing both girls out of the water, is something I'd like to see.Heheheeheee

Bo Peep can't even guard the sheep, abiding the flocks by night or day.

But as Pete and Dud said, "Mind you, I can't abide these fields. They're the most unabidable fields I've ever encountered."

Yeah. I'll abide by that.

I can't decide, so I'll leave you with a poem...

I have a little pussy,
And her coat is silver gray;
She lives in a great wide meadow
And she never runs away.

She always is a pussy,
She'll never be cat,
Because she's a pussy willow!
Now what do you think of that!

Nico said...

It's an amazing thing.

Ah, but you only have half of the Bo peep saga represented here. She was actually a plucky little sheperdess who took on none of the feeble advice offered.

Then up she took her little crook,
Determined her to find them;
She found them indeed, but it made her heart bleed,
For they'd left their tails behind them.

It happened one day, as Bo peep did stray
Into a meadow hard by,
There she espied their tails side by side,
All hung on a tree to dry.

She heaved a sigh and wiped her eye,
And over the hillocks went rambling,
And tried what she could, as a sheperdess should,
To tack each again to its lambkin.

I like fat chicks so I would say Muffet, but you portrayed her killing a spider and I like spiders because they keep all the other annoying bugs away from me. Plus they make the coolest bad guys in cartoons. Therefore, Bo Peep is my gal and if you think she is boring because she's a sheep herder I would tell you that some of the most interesting people in history herded sheep like jesus, but I'm jewish so I have no idea who that man is. All I know is that whenever I go to an easter party I get fed with many foods and eat lots of great candy, so jesus is a cool herder in my book and bo peep is probably too.

Everybody: Thanks a million! Maybe Bo peep isn't so bad after all.

Pat: I could really get into something more elaborate but I've been laid off and I need to start thinking about getting my next job!

I'm a little late getting into this debate, I know, but I'd have to vote for Bo Peep, Miss Muffet sounds like she might be underaged--who made her the curds and whey? her mom? Isn't a tuffet some kind of baby seat? this just seems like really dangerous territory.

Now Bo, on the other hand is a career girl. True she's not very good at her job, but if I were her boss, I'd probably overlook the depleted sheep inventory in exchange for a shot at getting into those ruffled bloomers.
