Many thanks to Anonymous for these photos from the hilarious awkwardfamilyphotos.com. Boy, I was lucky to get these; if I hadn't I would have been strapped for something to post. It's not that I haven't any ideas...my mind is teeming with ideas right now...I just haven't had time to write them down.
One of the reasons is that I'm trying to learn a program that infuriatingly resists being learned, and I only have a short time each night to spend with it. Bear with me. I'll be happy just to get it set up, and get the cables tucked away, then I can attack it at a more leisurely pace.
Awkward is certainly the right word for these (above).
This (above) is my favorite of the Awkward Photo pictures. I imagine that the people shown here are a family of poisoners. Over the years the two ladies tried out samples of their poisons on the guy on the left and he lost all his hair and much of his muscle control. He's not mad, though. He's a poisoner himself, and he understands the necessity of practice.

Like I said, I'd like to try my hand at family photography. If I had willing subjects I'd like to take a picture where everybody acts out a character. Imagine the four people above in a single picture. A whole family of over-actors.
A horrific, underlit family (above) would be nice...
...as would a family of super-intelligent space invaders (above). All it would take is the right lighting and the right clothes.
Imagine a family photo where everybody had wide-angle heads like Hillary in the picture above.
Of course I'd take some classic pictures (above) too, but only if I had the right subjects.

I've always wanted to do the cumulative family portrait. That is, every year, you get everyone to stand in the same minimalist setting, in the same clothes if possible, and definately in the same poses, when possible.
And over the course of a families life, you have oh twenty or more or so of these portraits, all on a wall in a line. If you wanted to you could make a morph movie.
You could make the gapes between portraits a bit less often if you wish.
The same thing could be done by placing all twelve or so years of school portraits in the same frames. It is just that there has to be a PLAN for -long term- presentation. CURATE your family portraiture.
seems the only way they take photos for your ID at my job is with a fish-eye lens. we stand around and ridicule each other's badges all day.

Heeheehee, these pictures are all so funny. And interesting. Your description of the poison family makes the picture a lot more interesting to me than if I just saw it casually.
By coincidence (I think it was a coincidence, and not some Twilight-Zone thing) I too just discovered the Awkward Family Photos site. Boy, is it funny. I hope all those photos are authentic. If they are staged hoaxes, they are much less amusing. Plus, I really hope there are plenty of people who really look like that.

Can you imagine whoever directed the little girl to touch her daddy's fake penis? Too weird.
It looks like something even Woody Allen or Andy Warhol would cringe at doing.
That first photo leaves so many unanswered questions! It's more mysterious than Mona Lisa's smile.

We've been taking pictures of our son Gabriel on his birthday, in the same place (sorta/kinda), for 26 years. I was figuring on doing the morph-movie when I'm almost too old to move the mouse (but, I must admit, I have clipped the photos into an animated Flip Book!)
