I'm in a hurry so I'll put up these illustrations by Dean Cornwell without comment. I have a first edition of the hard-to-find classic Cornwell book but it's been drastically devalued by the reprint that came out a few years ago. Amazingly the reprint is just as well done as the earlier book and you don't have to pay collector's prices to own it.

Actually the reprinted edition of this Cornwell book was also pretty expensive right off the bat--I believe it cost more than 100 dollars(can't recall-it's been 7 years). Printed on very high-quality paper and worth every penny, but now it too is out of print, and sells for starting at $250 on Amazon-if you can find one.
I really like these sketches, and I would probably buy the book if it isn't really expensive. That second sketch really gives me the chills.
Your blog is great! Besides introducing us to artists, you tell some really funny stories. What makes your restaurant stories even funnier is I can picture the reaction of the other people (like the servers). They either find you all funny or they think you all are weird.
Gosh, those are rather good.
amazing
johns posts on backgrounds painting techniques etc. are awesome but theyve been going on for months now can you tell him its time for a change of pace?
Godzilla-size Uncle Sam rolling up his sleeves -- what a powerful image! They really don't make 'em like they used to.
its amazing the amount of great art that has been wasted on absolute shit copywriting
