"PARIS LOVE" HITS THE THEATERS!

It's up! Ha! My first pantomime video, called "Uncle Eddie: Paris Love"! Unfortunately the double exposures were fragmenting so much that I had to stop shooting. What causes that? Anyway, there's enough there that you can see where the story was going.

I'm sorry that so many of my recent posts have been about me. Even my own mother wouldn't want to read about me all the time. Even I'm getting tired of me. I think this self-obsession came about because I've been on the computer so much lately. I got a manual and I was determined to learn everything I could. I didn't realize that doing that would make me such a dull person to talk to. All my most recent adventures have been inner ones. Oh, well. I'll put the book on the shelf for a while.

Edward! These are marvelous, but I think you could really benefit from some kind of green screen...

Thanks to the popularity of YouTube, they make amateur ones now that are surprisingly affordable!

Aw, where's the ending?

You tease! :P

Positively lustful! I hope you'll continue with these new fangled video adventure pictures!

If you're bored at some point, I've got some exciting filmage that my pal Dave and I have made over the past 2 years. There's a film noir, a special effects and an exploitation movie that should bring endless thrills and laffs.

Are you kidding, its never ENOUGH Eddie!!!!
Especially when he's French!!
You should have your own daily show. With a wacky sidekick and everything. You can teach primitive boys and girls how to make those amazing facial expressions you do and turn them into high class slobs!!!

are you crazy? i want to see more movies! watching you is golden material: your weird, weird-looking, and full of expression! i watched your first video and was completely blown away by how normal your voice is. i talked with my roommate about it and we both agree that it doesn't fit your face. i always imagined you with a mr. bean type soft mumbley voice. but it wouldnt make as interesting a combination! BRILLIANT!

Personally, I didn't mind the fragmented footage. You were great at pantomime. The letter writing and the paper airplane parts were my favorites.

I'm not too familiar with the new iMovie software, but the basic premise to 'chroma-key' ( which is the original effect this is trying to imitate ) is that you're telling the machine to eliminate one color.

Unfortunately, with pixels, there's a bunch of different colors within those solid colors, and sometimes shades of red or green or blue ( depending what color screen you use ) will show up on the subject you're trying to chroma-key.

This is why a lot of the professionals do color correction to their footage before they chroma-key stuff.

I don't know if you have a screen behind you or not, but if you don't, it might behoove you to head to the fabric store and purchase a few feet of green or blue felt.

So now that you know, continue shooting! These videos are ingenious. PLEASE don't stop posting and making them!

I will no longer have to explane to people the "Eddie show" thing. Greatness.

I love it! I wanna see the ending!

This might help you with the "blue screen", if you are using imovie:

Many thanks, everybody!

Katie, Freckled: Muchos Gracias!

Josh: Wow! That noir film was really fun to watch! Congratulations!

Erik: Mr. bean's voice!? That's a compliment!

Boo, Steven: Many thanks! Felt sounds like a good choice because it doesn't wrinkle easy!

Gabe: That's the best explanation that I've seen on the net! Thanks!

Trevor Thompson said...

Precisely the reason they use felt, cuz wrinkles do show up and you get weird lines on your subject.

Uncle Eddie...you rock the house! Not only are your writings brilliant, but your video stories are great.

Granted, the chromakey needs cleaning, BUT...your stories are like the show Mr Bean. You're funny without uttering a word, AND it has an appeal to everyone.

Just you wait, Uncle Eddie, just you wait...once the graphics are "cleaner", Chris Cuomo (yum yum!) will be talking about your videos on Good Morning America during the "Around the Watercooler" segment.

LOOOOVE!

Well- do you have a big piece of either blue or green paper to go behind you? That'd be great- and don't wear black unless you hva e an orange light hitting you on your edges- that's what I've learned from compositing!

Bravo!

Magnifique!

I can see it now:
"Oncle Eddie c'est magnifique!!" exclaim the French as they hail you as the new Jerry Lewis. By the way, I never realized until this film how tattered the Parisians look. There must be a major outbreak of moths flitting around The City of Lights.

For me that is the real France. Striped shirts, accordions, berets, pencil mustaches, cigarettes, --and long bread. You forgot the bread. Everybody carries a loaf.
