Oh, Boy! Let's watch some funny dance videos! Mike Fontanelli turned me on to this dance (above) from Eddie Cantor"s "Ali Baba Goes to Town."
Max Wall was one of the kings of the funny walk. This sample (above) starts slow, so I'd advise starting at the 1:30 mark.
I posted this walk video (above) about three years ago and I expected it to change the animation industry. Sigh! It didn't, but it should have.
Imagine what Vaudeville must have been like! You could see a whole live matinee like this (above) for just a quarter.
Don sent this link (above) in a comment. See what you think.

Genius I say! Dance and funny walks together at last.
I discovered that same Raymond Scott clip late last year and watched it in awe over and over every morning as I got ready for school. Really helped me to get through a lot of that time really.
On a weird note though, I got into some hot water yesterday for something that I did that I thought had been completely harmless on this blogging website called Tumblr. What happened to me was so embarrassing that I couldn't even continue my old one anymore and it was all because I decided to post some interesting photos of my university and the new apartments that I had gotten from someone's Twitter.
I had been posting photos from Flickr and Google as well and even reposting interesting things that people have said about the university, including some of what he wrote, and apparently, someone told him that I had been "catching feelings" for him which started this ridiculous controversy on that website. I can't believe anyone would even think that, especially when I was running a comedy blog that I thought not many people were reading anyway. Talk about taking something way out of context. I issued an apology and all explaining what my intention was and how I had been posting a lot of university related articles and photos in the past few days, but I just couldn't continue with it anymore, so to save myself further embarrassment, I deleted the page after about an hour or two.
I think they were accusing me of being gay, when that's obviously not true at all. If those people had any guts then they should have confronted me about it directly on Tumblr or via email and I would have explained that I have requoted and reblogged Tweets from many other people that I've met and they hadn't had one problem with me about it, even fellow students at the university. To me, it was like reposting one of your drawings or Vincent's drawings and giving you guys credit, yet these guys were completely hypocritical about it especially since the guy that had posted the photos had given me his phone number and all this stuff and had his Twitter on public mode. If he really thought that way about his words staying on Twitter, then he should have made his page private to begin with instead of talking about me behind my back and calling what I did "creepy." That whole incident has motivated me to study and practice even more than ever and is a reminder at why I don't social network that much anymore. Too much drama over nothing.
Sorry about the long post, but I wanted to bring it up and also wanted to see if I did the right thing. Talked to some other people about it and they completely agree that I had a valid point and that the person in question was overreacting. Either way, I'm never doing that again and I hope it doesn't ruin my freshman year of college since the university is literally huge.
Good topic! Here is one I really like:

I posted the link for the one below a long time ago. The original YouTube video was removed, but found this version on DailyMotion. The audio isn't synced. I think somebody replaced the audio with the recorded version of the song. The four guys dancing are hilarious:

Don: Wow! Many thanks for the great link. If it's okay with you, I'll incorporate it into the blog.
But wait a minute...you had a second link. Let me take a look at that.
Roberto: Yikes! There's not a lot you can do about it. We live in an era of insult comedy, which can't be funny unless there's a real, writhing victim.
Joshua: Dance and funny walks DO go together, and they look great in animation. Most animators have trouble with that kind of thing but, thankfully, every generation produces a few animators who like doing it.
Every animated TV comedy should have in-house funny animators on staff, even if most of the animation is outsourced.
Don: I just watched "Baby Pop" and you're right, those side men are hilarious. Why doesn't animation have side men?
>> If it's okay with you, I'll incorporate it into the blog.
It's okay with me. I would be honored.
Hey! And don't forget this one (second 24):

Mentioning vaudeville, here is a link to an interesting book, most of it available online:

Thanks for your response on the situation, Eddie. As of now, I feel a lot better because I talked to several friends and college acquaintances and they all understood where I was coming from and told me it wasn't my fault at all and that I shouldn't waste any time with cowards and liars.
They also told me not to worry because of the massive size of the university in question. One person even said that he had a lot of college freshmen add him on Facebook, yet he only saw one of those freshmen one campus and they never talked anyway, so that also made me feel a lot better.
Now I know how Vincent Waller must have been feeling a couple of years ago when he ended up in a similar situation where people were hiding behind pseudonyms and attacking him, except here, people were cowering behind Twitter and attacking me. Maybe I should have said something directly to them, but that probably would have only made it worse and made me more frustrated in the end, thus wasting time.
Great
Great
Great
Exquisite post.
Thank you.
Arturo, Robert: Haw! Thanks for the links. Geez, this is making me want to animate.
Don: Wow! I'm dying to read a good book about Vaudeville. Maybe this is the one!
Don: I just read some of it...veeeery nice. And the price is right, too! Thanks again!
Michael: Thanks! Why is stuff like this so sadly lacking in modern animation?
Nice reference footage, Eddie!
Imagine "Family Guy" showcasing a character with a Max Wall walk! Fox would probably go berserk over that animator.
Wasn't it 1975 - onward "SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE" that emphasized insult comedy?
Eddie: Heere's one more...thenks, Kaz:
