TWO HUNDRED WAYS TO SAY, "YOU'RE STUPID!"

Whew! (Puff! Pant!) Let me take a breather....OK, Back to it...

Man! That's a pretty complete list! The only name I can think of that's missing is "dork!"
Say, while I'm at it does anyone out there know which Harlan Ellison story contains his pages-long curse...or is it just a long insult? Fans will know what I mean. Come to think of it does anyone know where in the Bible I can find the long series of curses levied against anyone who touches the Arc of the Covenant?

Of course, today's youth would probably say "Your Stupid" since nobody knows how to use apostrophes anymore. Actually, "stupid" or any of its synonyms are probably too specific fro these thick-skulled peabrains. These days they'd just say "Your Random"

I believe the curse is in Leviticus, Eddie. 15 years of church did me good!

Since were all stuck at D: where's Dolt?

Don't forget these words:

brainless, dense, doltish, dopey, dull, dumb, fatuous, feebleminded, foolish, half-witted, idiotic, ignorant, illiterate, imbecile, imbecilic, lowbrow, mindless, moronic, oafish, obtuse, senseless, simple, simpleminded, slow, uneducated, uninformed, unintelligent, untaught, unthinking, vacuous, weak-minded, witless...

I think there are more in other languages, some of the translations are not as nice as these.

Haha, "pinhead" and "numbskull" are high on the list of words I use for other drivers on the freeway!

I bet you could find a lot more in Maledicta, the International Journal of Verbal Aggression! :-)

I think I read somewhere that there are more negative words in the English language than positive. That's sad, isn't it?

Here's a list of positive phrases from a refridgerator magnet.

List

If you don't like them though many may also be used as insults when spoken correctly to other adults.
Half the vocabulary, twice the expressions. (I'd never do it though, it's too mean)

Notice they kind of have to stretch to get the list up to 101.

I can't think of anywhere there is a specific list of curses for touching the ark. I know it says touching or looking upon it will cause you to die. In Leviticus 26, and Deuteronomy 28 lists blessings and maledictions depending on if you obey God's laws or not. 2 Samuel 6:6,7 shows a case of someone touching the ark and dying in place. The cross reference takes you to Numbers 4:15, 19, 20 which makes mention of touching a holy thing, and looking at a holy thing causing death. So far my research hasn't dug up a list of curses for touching the ark. As a side note Zechariah 14:12 was probably the inspiration for the scene in Raiders of the Lost Ark where the Nazi was in the high priest outfit thinking all sorts of good things were going to happen for Germany, and they died.

Just a thought, could you be referring to what happened when the Philistines had possession of the ark in 1 Samuel 5-6? It caused death and hemorrhoids (my copy of the bible uses the term piles among other problems.

It's interesting that while this list avoids ethnic slurs over all, it includes "bohunk" and "modoc". "Bohunk" is a common enough insult (though I've never heard it in real life...probably because there aren't a lot of Eastern Europeans to insult in the South), but I've never encountered "Modoc" used as an insult, though I suppose racists in Northern California and Oregon where that tribe originates might use it as such.

Harlan Ellison wrote the Bible?

Or did he merely dictate it?
